The Zimbabwean woman is
evolving with every passing
hour. Evident from more and
more success stories from lead-
ing ladies like Fadzayi Mahere,
Makho Ndlovu more and more
women are plunging into the
male dominated industries and
making a name.
We met Sophia Chitemere the
founder of Infinity magazine and
had a chat on how much the
21st century woman has
evolved. With Sophia being one
of our Girl bosses women in me-
dia have one more icon to look
up to.
Sophia grew up in a family of 4
girls and 2 boys. 2 of my sisters
and her parents are sadly late.
She went to Eaglesvale for her
primary and high school. She
says she was an average stu-
dent, who loved sports and was
very athletic. Right after high
school she enrolled at Ranche
House College where she did a
diploma in Hospitality. As soon
as she completed that, she
moved to South Africa in 2009
for greener pastures and start a
new life on her own.
You will never believe what was
my first job, but that’s a story for
another day she says. ‘My real
work experience was as a video
editor and graphic designing.
I was fortunate enough that my
employer at that time taught me
all of that and learn some things
on my own. I worked within that
industry for over 5 years.” Dur-
ing that time that’s when she
started her online magazine
called Infinity Magazine in 2013.
Later got another opportunity to
work at Samsung which was a
wonderful experience. Over the
years she realised what she
really wanted which was to
work within the media industry
and God blessed her with an-
