See, the thing with my Mum, Mrs Mum
as I like to call her, is she always had
this thing that made her distinct yet I
see in many other women. She isn't
your typical African woman, but you'd
still see some aspects of hers in other
women. Like she was created from bits
and pieces of a whole nation of ladies,
coming up with the amazing result
which I am privileged to call "mother".
Its as if she is a master piece blanket

women who lived before and will live
after her.

My mom's and her life were both at
stake at the time of her birth, but my

at the forefront of a battlefield for both
herself and her baby's life.My immedi-

My mother had us at 19. Twins at 19.
With almost absent family members.
She was told when we were born that
one baby had celebral pulsy and so she
would have disabilities and the like
later in life. She still held both of us
dearly and never believed that could
anyhow affect our growth. She gave us
a happy childhood.
All my memories are filled with joy
from my childhood. She held every-
thing together like a woman knitting a
Jersey. Ever seen a young girl forced to
be a woman early defy odds and just
make ends meet from parallel roads?
My mother was that type of woman,
she still is actually! She gave up a lot of
her dreams for us. My sister started
having fits because she was epileptic
when we reached 5 years old.
At that time, the belief was we were
