Now, let`s look at the soul of the human being, it contains our feelings, emotions, our thoughts, our character and also our motives just to mention a few. When we look at Exodus 26:33, we hear God telling his prophet Moses that there should be a veil between the holy place( soul) and the most holy place( spirit). This made me wonder why a veil between the emotions, the feelings of a person and the spirit.
There was a veil between the holy place and the most holy, now l want you to see what l saw when l was studying this verse. God did not want the soul to corrupt the spirit with its evil intentions because man had been corrupted by the devil in the garden. That is why God said the imaginations of the thoughts of man are only evil and decided to destroy man( Genesis 6:5). These are the same thoughts that made Lucifer to fall and iniquity was found in him( Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:15). It is important for every child of God to know what thoughts comes into your mind whether they are good or bad thoughts. Good thoughts help a child of God to activate the spirit and operate as a spirit whilst bad thoughts corrupts the spirit man.
There is something l want you to see before we go any further, in the most holy place there was gold and there were cherubim. This means that where God would come and reside there was gold. Money does not reduce your spirituality but rather it helps you in the betterment of your spirit. Poverty does not make your spirit active. People have a belief that money corrupts but the same bible says money answers all things( Ecclesiastes 10:19) but the love of money now is the bad part as said in the book of 1Timothy 6:10. Our Lord Jesus even became poor so that we can be rich.
Look at this, gold is in the most holy place, your spirit has to be rich and when your spirit is rich workout those riches so that the physical man can also benefit by prayer and fasting. That is why Paul says He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings. Your spirit has to be rich with the word of God, make it a habit to feed the spirit with the word and sermons from your pastor. It is that word that make your spirit rich and your spirit will become more active to the things of the spirit and you worship God better that way.
Matthew 27:51, look at how Matthew presented this issue. It was that moment when our Lord Jesus was being crucified and on that particular verse we hear how the veil was rent in two. What this means is the holy place and the most holy place where now accessible by anyone and this means that our soul which has emotions, character are now merged with the spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:16, this verse shows us that we now have the mind of Christ and when we have the mind of Christ it means every thought which comes into our mind is no longer ours but they belong to Jesus. You have to be now aware of the things that come into your mind because Jesus might be communicating with you whilst you are not aware because what we carry now is the mind of Christ.
Have you ever wondered when something suddenly happens and you say to yourself, l was just thinking about this thing. That is Jesus communicating with you and that is why we have said you have to be rich with the word of God to understand what is really happening around you. The devil also uses that technique but if you are rich in the word you can discern from the good thoughts and bad thoughts, the mind of Christ and the mind of the devil.
Having the mind of Christ also means that we have the ideas that Christ has for us, which means Christ does not want us to be dominated by the devil but we should dominate the devil and as a child of God because you carry the mind of Christ you have to dominate the devil. Jesus does not want you to live a life of failure but a life of victory in every aspect of your life, so as a child of God victory should become the order of the day. Explore the mind of Christ in the word of God that is the bible and make your life an experience. By doing this you would be training your spirit to be active.
There is something that l learned one day as l was walking going to church in the evening. I saw a young girl walking coming from selling her tomatoes and when she was about to turn to her house, there was no light but darkness and tall grass and she was afraid of walking alone and she said l would rather wait the whole night here than going home alone unless someone goes with me. I understood that when we were walking together she was not afraid but the moment she wanted to walk alone she was afraid.
This is what l learned that day, Training the spirit to be active is not something that you can do on your own but there has to be someone who is above you in the spirit who can help you in this journey by giving you relevant information. The young girl was afraid of going home because of the darkness, it is the same with us we have things that can hold us( the spirit man) from becoming active because we are afraid of those things but if you have a man of God that can take you through all that, you are assured of becoming a person who is aware of what is happening in the spirit and free of fear.
Acts 20:28, from this verse we see that the Apostle Paul is addressing something that is crucial when training the spirit to be active. The one that feed your spirit is the one that has been made overseer of your spirit by the Holy Spirit and that person is your pastor. You have to feed your spirit with the word that is given to you by your pastor. Who is feeding your spirit? In the garden of Eden there were two trees, the one which was of knowledge of good and evil and the other was of life( Genesis 2:9).
God was always the one who was giving Adam and Eve information in the garden and the moment another source began to give them information, they were thrown out of the garden which means there is information from certain people that you should never listen to because the moment you listen to it death is knocking at your doorstep. Who is the source of your information? Is the information life giving information or it is information that kills your spirit.
There is a very important question that was asked by the snake( Genesis 3:1) and the thing that was being tested is that, are you able to follow instructions. God had instructed Adam on what to do and what not to do. What made them to be separated from the presence of God was failing to follow instructions. Instructions come from a person that has gone ahead of you and that is bigger than you in the spirit. The moment you listen to the instruction that is given to you by the overseer of your spirit, your spirit will become active. My question now is, are you following the instructions that you are being given by your overseer?
From the book of Proverbs 8:10, we begin to understand the value of instructions. Solomon is saying receiving instruction is better than silver which shows you that instructions are very important for a Christian when he wants to train his / her spirit to be active. When instructions are given it is for your own good, thus even when one is about to write an examination the first thing that you see are instructions showing that what is inside can be done correctly when one follows the instructions. When you want to do something excellent and train your spirit to be active, you have to follow instructions.
