The journey foe women over the centuries has been marred with
struggle ,pain abuse and above all oppression to the woman as a
whole. From Women not being allowed to vote to women being
deprived of the opportunity to go to school, the best we can say is
We have come a long way and the journey still goes on. I am a
proud woman and I am excited at the future prospects that
women have in a world where there is an increase in Women voic-
ing their opinions.
There have been so many achievements by women over the years
that bring a warmth into my heart at how much the sisters fought
together. Over the years there has been strong vocalization
against child marriages and the victories are coming in small num-
bers but it is a start. Child marriages have been largely associated
with 3rd world countries and bad economies. For instance Zim-
babwe is amongst some of the world’s top child marriages coun-
tries. The worst part about it is that most child marriages do not
occur between children of the same age but between a 13 year old
and a 50 year old man. I can vividly remember my childhood when

because of religious beliefs only to pass on at the age of 16 due to
lack of proper health care and I believe the physical and emotional
toil she went through as a young wife.

stricted by the patriarchy in their country where women are pub-
licly humiliated and no one says a word. Women are treated as
objects in India with their dowry system that only makes women
more of liabilities other than people. A country where a religious
sect can publicly put a bounty on a woman because of a movie
role she played, Why are men still that powerful?
