Female | 5 years old | Hound Mix

Hi, I’ m Freda! I’ m from a property in Arkansas that housed many dogs in one big yard. Now that I have my own space, I would rather not share my new family with another dog, but a cat might be okay. In the past, I had an injury to my right eye and now I have a scar there but I can still see. I also had a mild case of heartworm when I arrived but I have been treated for that. While being treated, I had to be kept calm, so now I love to run, jump and play! I’ m like a puppy so I’ m too energetic for kids under 5. As a hound I have a good bark so I’ m not suited for an apartment, condo or town home. I stayed in a foster home during heartworm treatment and learned two things: I need to be crated when alone( I can jump gates and like to chew shoes) and I require a fenced yard because I will not go to the bathroom on leash. With these two things in place, house training will be much less stressful. I love my toys and I like to snuggle in bed with you at night. All I need now is a family!

Wizard Male | 5 years old | Samoyed

Wizard is a good natured guy who gets along with dogs and people alike. He likes activity, but he can also be a little lazy sometimes. Like a typical Samoyed, Wizard was a little stubborn when he first came to WSHS. He has now been through obedience training and did great! He even worked through some food aggression and will now leave the bowl when told. If you are an experienced dog owner and like a dog who loves the cold weather and has a heavy coat, Wizard might just be for you. He is still learning so Wizard needs to live with kids that are at least 12. Due to the breed’ s strong herding instinct, cats are not a good fit. Wizard is currently attending a weekly obedience class and when he is adopted, his new family will need to finish the 6 week class held at WSHS. This gentle fluff-ball is a volunteer favorite at the shelter and will make an excellent companion!

Bambi Female | 12 years old | Tri-Color Tabby

Hi, I’ m Bambi! My original owners had to turn me over to animal control when their health was failing in 2011. I had been loved and well cared for, but found myself in the system at age 7. I was then brought to WSHS where I spent three months before finding my final family, or so I thought. Four years later in July of 2015, I was returned to WSHS, my owner citing allergies( an allergic family member was moving in). At age 11, I found myself homeless once again. All the folks here would love to see me permanently placed in a loving home. I am healthy, four-paw declawed, and better with older kids and prefer not to live with dogs. I would be perfect for a senior who just wants a little companionship. Come visit me to see what a lovely girl I am!

Gulliver Male | 4 years old | Black & White

I am one of four kittens born outside and one by one, our momma took us to the safety of a house where food was regularly provided to outside cats. It was like she was giving us to people, so we’ d be safe. We stayed there until we were big enough to get adopted and that time is now. All of my siblings have been adopted, so it is my turn I hope real soon. I am more outgoing around other cats, so I need to live with another cat. I’ d prefer a quieter home with older children or adults only. Come check me out, I’ d love to make new friends!
