The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center and Retreat Farm present Artful Ice Shanties , a week-long outdoor exhibit , which will be displayed on the ice at the Retreat Meadows and near the farmhouse at Retreat Farm . Ice shanties can be traditional , conceptual , functional , wacky , permanent , or temporary , but they ’ re definitely all artful ! Certificates will be awarded for notably artistic , inventive , fun , or silly shanties at the outdoor Awards Ceremony on Saturday , February 25 at 2pm . For more : brattleboromuseum . org

Children ages 6 to 9 years old can join camp counselors Marisa and Bella for a week of embracing the Scandinavian concept of “ Hygge !” Hygge ( pronounced “ hyoo-gah ”) is the quality of coziness and togetherness that leads to a feeling of contentment and well-being , especially throughout the winter . Children will have the opportunity to engage in winter-themed crafts , outdoor fun , games , and sensory exploration activities , while connecting with each other . Scholarships are available . 5TH ANNUAL # SHRED4NATE MEMORIAL ALPINE RACE , STRATTON MOUNTAIN RESORT MARCH 5
The Stratton Community Foundation will be hosting the 5th annual # Shred4Nate memorial alpine race at Stratton Mountain Resort , which supports mental health programs for children , schools , families , and communities across Southern Vermont .
# Shred4Nate was started in 2019 in memory of Nathan M . Carreira and an endowment was established in his name to support his Vermont community . Through # Shred4Nate , the Stratton Community Foundation ( SCF ) strives to reduce the stigma and lack of understanding surrounding mental health , spread compassion , and encourage those struggling to seek help . Stratton Mountain and East Street Archives join to celebrate the history , tradition , and progression of a sport that got its start right here in Stratton , VT , with an event that brings the community together through snowboarding and creativity . Three days of competition for all ages and abilities , art , photography , a speaker series , a vintage board swap , and more !
This new event will be a homecoming for the “ Who ’ s Who ” of Snowboarding , led by Olympic Gold Medalist Ross Powers , who still calls Stratton home , along with today ’ s leading athletes like Zeb Powell and amateurs , young and OG , to compete where it all began . VERMONT OPEN , STRATTON MOUNTAIN RESORT MARCH 11 & 12
Wax up those snowboards ! The Vermont Open presents the 2023 Banked Slalom ; a two-day banked slalom event hosted by Stratton Mountain . This year ’ s Vermont Open will take place as a two-day banked slalom event open to 300 riders split into seven age divisions . Each of the seven age divisions will have first , second , and third place finishers recognized . Males and Females will compete and be judged separately . Registration is capped at 300 riders : 150 riders in 17 years old & under , and 150 riders 18 years old & over .
Riders will give it their all in a downhill slalom course featuring berms , bumps , jumps , and rollers twisting down East Byrnes Side . Riders will be individually timed , and the fastest times at the end of the weekend will go home with trophy prizes ! For more : stratton . com
