WHAT DOES "CAP" IN "CAP PHOTOGRAPHY STAND FOR?

I often get asked that question and it’s actually a really simple answer! :) My full name is Andrea Christina Peipe and I just moved the letters around because ACP sounded weird. I also liked that cap could mean the lens cap of my camera. By now I would actually prefer if my name was somehow more present in my business name but since I have used it for many years, my website has that name as an URL and my Facebook page is named like that, it’s too complicated to change my name. I have been trying to add my name to my Facebook page at least but it seems to be more complicated than I thought when you have passed a certain number of followers.

ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?

Yes, I am completely self taught. When I started taking photography seriously about 5 years ago, I had very little actual knowledge about photography and none about editing. Pretty soon,

I grew quite frustrated with myself because I couldn’t achieve the results I wanted to achieve. I bought a book about my specific camera back then and worked through every page, testing

a lot in between and like that I slowly got to know my camera. I never shot in Automatic mode anyways but in Aperture Priority mode but then moved on to Manual mode and stayed there.

I also started a 365 self portrait project soon after I bought my first camera - you take a self portrait every day for one year - and that pushed me a lot because I had to figure out how to

take photos in different light situation and how to achieve what I wanted. It also made me figure out how to pose which in turn then helped me later when I started taking photos of others.

With regard to editing, I watched a lot of tutorials on YouTube and such but only when Phlearn started, I really learnt how to edit and improved so much so fast.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE IMAGE AND WHY?

My favourite image is “The way to the stars”. Even 8 months after I took it, I am still so proud of it. There are a lot of reasons why this is my favourite image - one of them is that the model is one of my closest friends, Lisa, who lives a few hours away from me and came only for this shoot. I also love it because it is different to what I did before and seemed to have marked the beginning of a new way of seeing things for me. And it means a lot because I love being underwater and being able

to shoot underwater is the best feeling in the world.
