WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO A NEW PHOTOGRAPHER LOOKING TO BUILD A CAREER IN PHOTOGRAPHY?

I was recently asked to be a guest photographer at my local middle school to speak to the kids. I found myself reiterating the fact that as humans, we all have stories we want to tell. I want any new photographer to know to always be true to your own visions. Don't let what's trending and hip be your end goal. Don't let anyone tell you that just because you arnt cookie cutter you arnt good; because you are. Tell your stories the way you want, regardless of the critics. The right audience will find you and appreciate you. Also, this is a big one -- your equipment does not define you. I have a cheap crop frame camera and one lens that was less than 100 dollars. Learn to make do with what you have at the moment. No excuses!
