I would advise any writer – whether a novelist or a poet or a screenwriter – to write from a place of truth. Know the world you are going to create, the components of it inside out, know it so well that you can write a thesis on it. I am an academician at heart and I love research, so that is a big plus. And a well-researched book is utterly delightful to read, because even if most of your research does not find its way in your story, your command over it will help you craft your narrative with utter confidence and familiarity. He constantly pushes me to seek more and keep expanding my boundaries. He is my best friend and my muse. The trappings of success, even in my film career, don’t exult me much.
