With a skip in her step, Heidi Montag of Sauk Rapids, is thrilled to represent the dairy industry at the Minnesota State Fair this year. Not only as a Benton County dairy princess, but also as one of 10 Princess Kay of the Milky Way finalists. It’ s also her very first time to visit the Minnesota State Fair.
One of many fun experiences as a finalist was to have her head sculpted in butter. What made the experience even more special is the fact that the sculptor, Gerry Kulzer, was her 10th grade photography teacher at Sauk Rapids- Rice High School.
“ It was really cool to catch up with him, because he and I talked every single day. I was a teacher’ s pet kind of girl and would always talk to the teachers. I have a hard time with people my own age, so I’ m always right there to be connected with people a little older than me,” she said.
Kulzer is the official sculptor of butterheads for the Midwest Dairy Princess Kay of the Milky Way competition and carves a likeness of the winner and finalists each year. Montag
