Benton County 4-H Ambassadors host‘ Get Patriotic’ activity

BENTON COUNTY – Benton County 4-H Ambassadors recently welcomed younger 4-H members for an evening of fun, teamwork, and service during Youth Activity Night:“ Get Patriotic— Discovering the Legacy That Unites Us in 4-H.” The event was planned and led by the county’ s 4-H Ambassadors as a way to mentor younger members while exploring what patriotism looks like through leadership, gratitude, and helping others.
As youth arrived, they added a star to a“ Legacy Unites Us” wall and received name tags for the evening’ s“ My 4-H Legacy Challenge.” Throughout the night, participants were encouraged to work with someone new, encourage others, try new activities, and help their group succeed— with ambassadors recognizing these moments along the way.
Early in the evening, 4-H Extension
Educator Ann Olson asked participants a question:“ What does every single person in this room have in common?”
Third grader Alex Nemeth quickly raised his hand and replied,“ We are unique.”
Olson smiled and agreed.“ Exactly. Each of us has unique interests and abilities. Those differences become a huge part of the legacy we leave behind. Because individuals over the years have been willing to use their unique interests and abilities to help others, we have the incredible communities and opportunities we enjoy today.”
Participants then jumped into a series of large-group games designed to help everyone connect and build teamwork. Youth discovered common interests through interactive circle activities and worked together in team challenges that included a hula hoop pass.
After a shared meal and social time, youth rotated through four hands-on
