Stop motion is an animation technique that makes animate objects appear like they are moving this is done through taking many photos of an object and moving it slightly after this is done you will take it into an editing software and will put all of the images to go at a certain amount of frames per second. This makes the images move very fast and give the illusion that it is a moving image. In 1832, Joseph Plateau created one of the first commercially successful stop motion devices this device was called the “Phenakistoscope” it is seen as one of the first uses of stop motion ever created. The device was a spinning disc that gives the impression by spinning the wheel and letting it move by itself this creates a gif type of image that appears on the disc. Lumiere Brothers created the cinematographe in the 1890’s the development of stop motion was becoming more developed from this device as it was used to take photos in a fast way to create motion. This was revolutionary as this could create minute long films and was one of the first of its kind; one of the first films created with this device was called “Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory in Lyon” this was around 50 seconds long as was a massive advancement in technology as at that time they only had films that were a few seconds long. This helps to advance film into what it is today; as the years went on films went in a higher “frames per second” and making films look more realistic and how they look today.
