INDEPENDENT EDUCATION Memorable milestone for Yarlet School 2 013 has been an exciting year for Yarlet, not least as it marks the school’s 140th anniversary. This memorable milestone in the school’s history was celebrated in fine style at a Summer Fair on 29th June. The celebrations typified life at Yarlet, with lots of children having fun, as well as the mums, dads, grandparents, friends and former pupils who were also able to join us to share this joyous occasion. 2013 is also a memorable year for our Form 8 leavers. The Form 8 Common Entrance results were excellent and it has been an outstanding year for Senior School awards, with 10 out of 16 leavers gaining awards – academic, music, sporting, artistic, all-round – and, notably, two of our pupils achieved an Academic Exhibition to Wycombe Abbey and an Academic Scholarship to Concord College – schools which are ranked as the top two academic schools in the United Kingdom. Outside the classroom, Sport, Dance, Drama and Music complete the picture of a Yarlet education. Set in 33 acres of Staffordshire countryside the school is home to unrivalled sporting facilities. Pupils take part in a daily games session, with a full and varied programme being organised for pupils of all levels of sporting ability. Our programme is fully inclusive and all pupils will have opportunities to represent their school in teams. Annual musicals, ballet productions, nativity plays, 42 October/November 2013 music concerts and carol services bring the arts to life at Yarlet and inspire self-belief and creative confidence in all our pupils. Every child has the opportunity to shine. This is complemented by our new Yarlet Music Academy and Academy of Performing Arts. The family atmosphere at Yarlet ensures that our children are nurtured to understand the importance of kindness, courtesy and respect for others. Children enjoy coming to school, as can be seen by their happy, smiling faces. If you would like to see Yarlet in action, you are welcome to visit our Open Mornings on Saturday 12th and Monday 14th October between 9.30am and 12.30pm. If these dates are not convenient, either telephone (01785 286568), email ([email protected]) or contact us through our website (www.yarletschool.org) to arrange an appointment. We look forward to meeting you!
