KATHARINE HOUSE HOSPICE Katharine House bids a fond farewell to Joan K atharine House Hospice said a fond farewell to Joan Lawton, manager of its popular Stone High street shop at the beginning of September. Joan retired after over eight years with the Hospice – during which time she has turned many local customers into friends and has helped to put the shop on the map in Stone. Joan came from a boutique background and brought a touch of style to the shop which has regularly won the best dressed shop window in the past. The shop also has a customer comments book in which it says ‘you would never think it was a charity shop’, ‘I can’t believe the designer labels on display’, ‘my favourite shop’ and most importantly “wonderful and friendly staff’ 32 October/November 2013 feature greatly. The shop reins have now been left in the capable hands of new Manager Sandra Wood who herself has been with the Hospice retail team for many years. Kate Sharp, Retail Director said: “We would like to thank Joan for her wonderful service to the Hospice. Her lovely personality and professionalism has helped to make the shop such a success, she will be missed.
