STAFFORDSHIRE YOUNG FARMERS Staffordshire Young Farmers want you..... W ith two popular and successful local Young Farmers Clubs within the Staffordshire Federation, Eccleshall YFC and Stone YFC, young people looking to socialise with other like minded, fun and friendly youngsters with a passion for the countryside need look no further. Staffordshire Young Farmers ended their membership year on 31st August 2013 with an impressive 602 members in total across the ten clubs within the county, but are now gearing up for the next couple of months packed with Annual General Meetings, where new Club Officers are elected, Joining Up nights where members re-join and new ones get the chance to go along, and of course, some YFC renowned social events and competitions. The final competition of 2013, the Annual Raft Race, held on Sunday 11th August, on the River Dove, was a great success with 28 rafts 16 October/November 2013 making their way to the finish line with local team Eccleshall crowned as the overall male winning team. On Saturday 21st September, the Autumn Fall Disco took place by kind permission of Mrs S Hopley at Brancote, Tixall and then on Saturday 26th October, the first Ball of the new membership year will take place at Yarnfield Conference Centre in Stone to the theme of ‘Twilight’, complete with pumpkins and a spooky atmosphere. Following on from this, the Social and Funding Committee are already busy planning one major party, set to take place on Saturday 4th January 2014 in the form of the ‘Big Ben’s Banging Ball’ held at The Ingestr e Suite, at the County Showground. It is hoped this night will start 2014 off with a bang for Staffordshire YFC members, complete with fireworks, Big Ben chimes and bacon butties.
