ECCLESHALL SHOW SOCIETY
Charities benefit from bumper show
E
ccleshall Show Society is making donations
totalling £2,500 to eight local charities
following a very successful show in 2013.
At the Annual General Meeting held recently
the committee voted to make donations to Support
Dogs, St John’s Ambulance Gnosall, Riding for the
Disabled, Eccleshall Scouts, Air Ambulance, Young
Farmer Ambassadors, Eccleshall Rotary Club and
Staffordshire Police for local projects.
At the same meeting it was ‘all change at the
top’ as several long serving officers opted to pass
the baton to younger members.
John Poole of Sugnall stepped down as
President in favour of Robert Cartmail of Knightly
whose father Tom was one of the founding
members of the Show back in 1947. Robert has
been Chairman for many years and that position
has now passed to Edward Lambert. Edward who
lives at Great Bridgeford has been involved with
the show since childhood and in recent years has
set up and maintained the show’’s website and is a
familiar figure in the main ring supervising the dog
agility and children’s sports among many other

duties on show day.
Former Show Manager Peter Titley of Walton
has become a Vice President and handed over the
reins to Amanda Graham of Eccleshall who is also
the Society’s Treasurer. The post of Show Secretary
remains with Robert Cartmail’s hard working
daughter Mary who co-ordinates the whole affair
from her home in the Lake District where she now
lives with husband Ian and young daughter Elodie.
Edward Lambert commented: “I feel extremely
honoured to be selected as Chairman and will do
my utmost to maintain the high standard already
established and to ensure that the show continues
to provide a great family event. I must pay tribute
to the hard work of John Poole, Peter Titley and
Robert Cartmail and know that I can count on
them for their continued help and guidance.”
The 2014 Show takes place on Saturday 30th
August at Sugnall. Details can be found on the
