STONE FESTIVAL Knights prepare to do b while the Fab 4 take to illed as a celebration of everything that is great about Stone, the town’s popular summer Festival with events stretched out over two weeks, is now well and truly underway and proving as popular as ever. See our events run down of everything still to come or get all the up to the minute details, information and results of the events taking place from the official website, Facebook and Twitter pages. With everything from parties, competitions, celebrations and quizzes to a car boot sale, the action kicked off on Sunday 1st June with the annual five mile multi-terrain race from Westbridge Park. This was the start of festivities leading to the highlight of Carnival Day over at Westbridge Park and the Parade through the town on Saturday 14th June. This will then be followed by the perfect crescendo to the celebrations with the traditional ‘End of Festival Week’ Service at St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church at 6.30pm on Sunday 15th June. The complete order of events will however run as follows: Sunday 8th June: •Car Boot Sale - Westbridge Park from 9am. Booter's entry fee is £5 per car. No commercial sellers, refreshments available, just turn up. •Raft Race - The annual raft race is held on the B 10 June/July 2014 River Trent from Darlaston to Walton Bridge. Registration is at 9am onwards at the Darlaston Inn and the race starts at 10am. Entry is £5 per person, including refreshments. The winning team will receive £50 and will take part in Saturday’s Carnival Parade. Human power only no mechanical pumps! •Dog Show - The ever popular Festival Dog Show is again in Westbridge Park. Entries will be taken from 10am with the show starting at 11am. •Bowls Sub Final - The Bowls Annual Sub Finals will again this year take place at Stonefield Park from 2pm. Monday 9th June: •Steeplechase and Dog Derby - This year’s steeplechase and dog derby will again be held in Westbridge Park. Please register for both races at 6.30pm. The steeplechase for humans will start at 7pm while the dog derby for dogs and their owners will start around 7:30pm. The entry fees for each race is adults £2.50, Under 16's £1. There will be three classes Under 16's, 16 to 40 and veterans over 40. These are two fun events for humans, dogs and spectators alike. Both races follow the same course leaving Westbridge Park via the canal towpath into Stone and returning through Crown Meadows - a distance of about 1.5 miles and if conditions are suitable the course will include a short river crossing which for all those with cameras ready is one of the slapstick highl Y
