ECCLESHALL SHOW

rates all the sixes

The team behind organising this year’ s Eccleshall Show are keeping their fingers crossed that this run of good weather will continue for another few weeks yet. Set to take place on Saturday 31st August at Lower Park, this truly traditional country show, now in its 66th year, offers produce competitions alongside horse and dog shows and lots of great family entertainment. Regularly attracting over 6,000 visitors each year, the show offers a great family day out for all.

Featuring an exciting and interesting main ring attraction in the form of The Rockwood dog display team, visitors can expect an action packed, fun and entertaining display which will demonstrate the skills of these canine companions.
The display takes the audience through every aspect of dog training from obedience performed to music, dogs jumping through 10 inch hoops, agility, fly ball and active Man Work where a dog is seen to apprehend an armed criminal.
A great visual effect is created when all the dogs in the team demonstrate their skill and courage by negotiating an 80ft ramp with four fire squares. Culminating in an exiting agility relay race, with two teams racing against the clock the audience will be cheering on their chosen team. All beautifully performed to music the show includes an informative and amusing commentary by Martin Winfield.
Of course as well as the main ring attractions, this agricultural, country show, held at Lower Parks, Sugnall, approximately two miles out of
Eccleshall on the B5026 Eccleshall to Loggerheads road, will see all the family favourite attractions returning again this year. This includes everything from the classic and vintage vehicle display, companion dog show, equestrian section and the horticultural and craft section.
New to 2013’ s event one of the classes in the Horticultural and Craft Section of the show will again be‘ Grass Heads’ only this year the theme is the‘ Royal Baby’.
There have always been two categories for this popular class- children aged seven and under, and children aged eight and over, although this year, organisers have decided to open this fun class to adults( aged 16 and over) as well. Grass head kits are available from Eccleshall Library, or contact Hazel on Tel. 01785851259( limited numbers are available on a first come first served basis).
