Summertime , makes me feel fine ...
W
ell what a turn up for the books this glorious weather has been , although to be fair we have been due a decent summer for some time so its nice to see it finally arrive .
There really isn ’ t anything quite like a good old British summer , ice creams , village fetes , barbecues and picnics go hand in hand with the sunshine .
After the amazing summer of sport last year I wasn ’ t sure we would be able to top 2012 but its already looking pretty promising . In national terms we have had a monumental win for the Brits in the tennis with Andy Murray crowned as Wimbledon Men ’ s Champion , the Lions roared to victory against Australia in the Rugby and the sun miraculously continued to shine for a historic Glastonbury Festival , oh how everything seems so much better when the sun shines .
While closer to home this same sense of positivity and success seems to have been resonated in our own local events .
In this edition we have captured some of the highlights of the summer ’ s festivals including the Stone Music and Arts Festival , Fulfest , the Stone community Festival week , parade , and carnival , and Eccleshall ’ s Busking Festival as well as looking ahead to all the delights the season still has to come with a ticket giveaway for Eccleshall Show , taking place at the end of August , the Flying Fox 10 mile road race and the forthcoming Food and Drink Festival - still plenty to look forward to .
Make sure you look after yourselves and others who may need a helping hand in the heat and enjoy the rest of the summer . Deborah x
