EDITOR’ S LETTER
Summertime, makes me feel fine...
W
ell what a turn up for the books this glorious weather has been, although to be fair we have been due a decent summer for some time so its nice to see it finally arrive.
There really isn’ t anything quite like a good old British summer, ice creams, village fetes, barbecues and picnics go hand in hand with the sunshine.
After the amazing summer of sport last year I wasn’ t sure we would be able to top 2012 but its already looking pretty promising. In national terms we have had a monumental win for the Brits in the tennis with Andy Murray crowned as Wimbledon Men’ s Champion, the Lions roared to victory against Australia in the Rugby and the sun miraculously continued to shine for a historic Glastonbury Festival, oh how everything seems so much better when the sun shines.
While closer to home this same sense of positivity and success seems to have been resonated in our own local events.
In this edition we have captured some of the highlights of the summer’ s festivals including the Stone Music and Arts Festival, Fulfest, the Stone community Festival week, parade, and carnival, and Eccleshall’ s Busking Festival as well as looking ahead to all the delights the season still has to come with a ticket giveaway for Eccleshall Show, taking place at the end of August, the Flying Fox 10 mile road race and the forthcoming Food and Drink Festival- still plenty to look forward to.
Make sure you look after yourselves and others who may need a helping hand in the heat and enjoy the rest of the summer. Deborah x
