A stone’s natural appearance can be altered by
applying any of the various types of surface finishes.
Surface Finishing
The type of treatment used on a stone dictates
its final color, texture, durability, and porosity.
The array of available finishes allows us to use
granite or marble in a wide range of applications,
be it a countertop, flooring, or wall cladding.
The following are the most commonly used finishes for stones:
Polished Finish
Honed Finish
Flamed Finish
Bush hamered
Finish
a. Polished- the smoothest and most reflective among all types of surface treatments;
b. Honed- creates a satin smooth finish minus
the gloss;
c. Flamed- deeply textured surface ideal for
outdoor applications needing slip resistance;
d. Bush hammered- deeply textured, as well, but
provides a more consistent feel than its torched
counterpart.
