A Letter from the Editor
Dear Family and Friends of St Oswald’ s,
Already a year has passed since Lesley-Ann was instituted as our Priest on the 28 August 2015 and the outcome of her work saw, at Easter, five baptisms and on Sunday 28 August 2016 Bishop Gregor was with us to Confirm Linda Allan, Linda Hardie and Lucy Hardie.
This service of celebration culminated in afternoon tea with the extended family of St Oswald’ s present and a chorus of Happy Birthday to Jean Robertson as she celebrated her 90 th.
These services and gatherings are a great indication of the presence of the Holy Spirit within St Oswald’ s and the outreach, support and guidance that Rev Lesley-ann has ministered in her first 365 days. Thank you!
The congregation were invited to join the Monday evening Bible Study on Acts, or do private study, commencing in April 2016 for a period of 24 weeks. The group is still going strong and is facilitated by members of the congregation, including Paula and Emily. It’ s never too late to join( we have 6 chapters left to read).
Recently our numbers have swollen as we were joined by some friends from St Aidan’ s. The sessions have given us the opportunity to hear fellow members talking about their faith and how to approach people outside the church with the message of the Gospel.
But we also heard that it is important for us all to maintain silence( see Page 5) to enable us to pray, to hear the calling and to reflect.
This is especially so before and after Sunday Holy Eucharist.
We need to respect the requirement for silence, for ourselves and those around us. If you need to chatter and talk informally about unimportant matters, please wait until you have left that Holy Space.
The Vestry rooms are available for carrying out business prior to the service or even better join us for a chat over a coffee afterwards.
I would like to thank all our contributors, new and those of long standing, for making the magazine an interesting read. We hope that you like the A5 sized presentation or receiving it as an electronic copy to enable you to forward to family and friends around the globe.
Thank you also to Aileen and the KP Church print group.
If you feel like writing a‘ Letter to the Editor’, your news, testimony, photographs and feedback are welcome.
