Vestry Meeting
Rector’s Warden chaired the meeting which followed the Sunday Eucharist
on Sunday 3 March 2019 and opened with prayer.
The minutes of the previous month’s meeting had previously been circulated
to all members and were approved by the vestry.
The Treasurer provided the balance sheet and discussed the contents.
There were questions relating to the income column and these were
clarified. Everyone was satisfied that any questions and matters arising had
been dealt with, including corresponding with appropriate agencies relating
to the Rectory.
The Secretary brought all up to date regarding the correspondence with the
Diocesan Office which had been actioned. There were some outstanding
matters to letters sent after the last meeting, regarding outstanding
remittance and awaiting confirmation who will ensure the upkeep of the
grounds.
The Dean had proposed dates to meet with the vestry members to discuss
St Oswald’s and this meeting has been confirmed to take place at the church
on Monday 18 March 2019 at 7:30pm. The vestry will create an agenda and
relevant questions to ensure the best use of the time. The vestry will advise
the congregation of the outcome of the meeting as soon as possible.
The Lay Representative gave a brief resume of the Synod meeting held in
Kilmarnock (report is printed in the magazine).
The vestry agreed that Mothering Sunday (31 March 2019) would be
celebrated in the usual manner with flowers for the children to take home to
their parents and to those of the congregation.
A discussion took place regarding our thanks to St Margaret’s Newlands for
the print run of the church magazine. It was agreed that the numbers should
be reduced to prevent wastage but still meet the requirement for posting and
sufficient for collection from the back of the church.
We heard about the uptake of the monthly homeopathic workshop and
support provided to those who attend.
The What’s On calendar published in the magazine would be updated to
reflect the groups who use the premises open or closed dates during April.
