Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice
Bob and myself received invitations to attend the Prince and Princess of
Wales Hospice Celebration Concert on Sunday 17th June 2018 at St.
Andrew's Cathedral.
Bob and I have had strong links with the Hospice as both Susan and Jim
had received wonderful help and kindness from the staff when they were
very ill.
After the 10 am service at St.
Oswald's, Morag kindly offered to
give us a lift into town and we
happily accepted.
The Cathedral was packed and
there was at least 200 people there.
It is a beautiful building.
The concert was to say goodbye to
the Hospice on the Clyde at Carlton
Place which has been there for 37 years and touched so many lives;
patients, families, volunteers and staff. They are now moving to a new
Hospice at Bellahouston Park.
The service was introduced by
Canon Gerald Sharkey who
welcomed everyone there. It
was a beautiful service with
beautiful songs. The St.
Andrew's Cathedral choir, The
Westerton Male Voice Choir
and the organist were all
amazing.
After the service Bob and I
went to the side chapel to light candles when the Canon spoke to us. The
Canon asked Bob which Church did we go to and, when Bob told him, he
said he knew St. Oswald's very well as when he was a young boy he went
to St. Oswald's to help Norah Templeton and Alice Bain at the tea stall when
there was a Jumble Sale etc. He had nice memories of the people of St.
Oswald's including Joyce McHaffie .
Bob and I had a lovely day and hope the Hospice will still attend St.
Andrew's for the yearly service so that we can attend.
