Dorothy Nicholson MISSION TO SEAFARERS Sea Sunday (8 July 2018) is the global celebration of the enduring and vital work of the Mission to Seafarers. It has been happening around the world every year for over 160 years. Sea Sunday usually focuses on a church service, with readings and hymns, relevant to the theme and is used for fundraising. Most services fall in the month of July, at the height of the holiday period when lifeboats are called upon to rescue swimmers and sailors alike. Sea Sunday is an opportunity to remember and pray for seafarers, their families and all who support them and where better to do so than in Glasgow whose maritime heritage rivalled that of any city in the world? It is a day of remembrance, prayer and celebration and an opportunity to think about and thank those seafarers who work tirelessly throughout the year bringing us the goods we so often take for granted. 5
