STOKING CURIOSITY | SHORT REPORT 2018 FESTIVAL PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES The final festival programme included 43 activities. Nine activities did not happen, one organiser did not engage post call out, three workshops did not get any visitors. Six activities were multi-platform for example both discussion and an exhibition or installation and a workshop. The festival ran for two days to give time for a larger number of activities. Community members and University staff were given an equal place to share their ideas, activities and research and to learn together: There were: 18 16 7 workshops discussions interactive exhibits 4 2 2 consultations exhibitions installations Some workshops were all-day activities and others lasted one to three hours. Most of the people running activities used creative arts to engage visitors. Over half of the activities were on topics that were a mixture of subjects. Many of them brought the arts and sciences together. "THE PAIRING OF THE FUTURISTIC HAND WITH CURRENT PROSTHETICS WAS FASCINATING" 6 • 16 activities were presented by University researchers. • 25 were presented by community members who were employed, self-employed or volunteers. • Two activities were run by academic–community partnerships. • 10 activities were from the arts and culture sector. • 5 artists at ACAVA opened their studios to demonstrate modern laser engraving, colour mixing, and the chemistry behind colour in fused glass. • 12 of the 18 workshops were offered by community members or artists. • Community members and academics were almost equally likely to offer discussions. • Five of the seven interactive exhibits were offered by academics (two in partnership with community members). • All the consultations were offered by community members on a range of topics (arts and culture, use of derelict urban spaces, education, health and well-being).
