Essential Feature Diary of a Rock Band It seems only a minute since the year started, but we are now half way through and already nearer to next Christmas than the one just gone! So with six months of the year gone I thought bit would be good to review Black Thursday’s year so far, as after a quiet start 2015 has turned into one of our busiest. We misfired into the year with a couple of false starts, having had a couple of early gigs cancelled through venues being doubled booked. At one of those we actually turned up to find another band already setting up their equipment and a very apologetic landlady who hadn’t realised she had been using two separate diaries for her bookings. At least the other venue had the decency to phone with the news that they’d made a mistake with their bookings, so fortunately we didn’t have to make the journey on the night. From then on things improved dramatically, as they needed to, since we had a new PA to pay for. We had taken the decision late last year that we needed to replace our old PA with something more up to date, of better quality and smaller in size. After much deliberation we chose to spend around £3500 on our new equipment and sold off the old gear to help pay for it.
