The Delivery Man Vince Vaughn masters stream of consciousness with impeccable delivery. We’d pay more than a penny for his thoughts. Here’s some of his wisdom through the years. “Well why don’t you give me your number in case anything happens to my wife.” Beanie, Old School “My childhood was like the Shawshank Redemption, except I didn't have some old, warm, black man to share my story with!” “I’m sweeping. You don’t Brad, Four Christmases have to hit me with a whip.” “Today we spell Ricky, Made redemption. R.O.N.” “Richard did not kick my Wes, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron ass. What Richard did Burgundy was attack me when I was half asleep.” “I hope you flip your Gary, The Break-Up bike over and knock your two front teeth “Mad respect for not out! You selfish son of giving respect. I feel a bitch! You leave me you.” in the trenches taking Raji, Be Cool grenades, John!” “That we're all one. That Jeremy, Wedding Crashers separateness is an illusion, and that I'm “I found that if you one with everyone— with the Prime Minister have a goal, that you might not reach it. But of England, and my if you don’t have one, cousin Harry, you and then you are never me, the fat kid from disappointed. And I What's Happening…the guy who wrote Catcher gotta tell ya...it feels phenomenal.” in the Rye,…Jay-Z, Peter, Dodgeball: A Weird Al Yankovic, True Underdog Story Harry Potter, if he existed, the whore on the street corner, your mother. We're all one.” Jeremy, Wedding Crashers Stop Laughing Vince Vaughn has had a recent streak of comedic films that have been light on the laughter and heavy on the disappointment. The Dilemma, The Watch and The Internship have all been critica l and box office misfires. Could Vaughn be losing his touch? A lot of comedians hit a comical wall at some point in their career. Funnymen like Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy eventually lost the ability to make people laugh with as much ease as they once could. Did these legends lose their magic or did their audience just find new performers to laugh with? The comedy muscle seems to be similar to that of an athlete’s muscles—eventually they dissipate. To be completely fair to Vaughn and the other performers mentioned, it is not easy to stay on top. The reason why it’s noticeable that these actors aren’t what they once were is because they had so far to fall. Vince Vaughn has reached comedic heights few can rival with classic films like Swingers, Wedding Crashers and Old School. Vaughn may not be as good as he once was, but few were ever as good to begin with.
