Transitioning to the future

The next steps following Chris Lockley ’ s departure are being taken . Firstly , we have to make a case to call a new Minister half time for five years . Four people have been selected as delegates to a Joint Nominating Committee which would be formed once the go ahead is given . Four more people have been selected to be alternates at any times when any delegate was unavailable . This week those eight people met with four Presbytery representatives to start the process of making our case . It was a most interesting two hour long discussion with numerous ideas being shared and debated .
Until such time as the necessary process if completed , worship services and all our other activities will continue to be arranged and to happen . The safe hands of various lay leaders in our congregation will ensure that .

If you weren ’ t in church for our Holy Communion service on 8 November you might be interested to see the above photos showing how the elements were set out on tables down the centre aisle allowing each participant to help themselves in a COVID safe way . Those few unable to go to the table themselves have had the elements passed to them by servers wearing gloves . Rev Bruce Stevens preached and presided .
At the Holy Communion service at Goodwin Ainslie on 9 November , Rev Don Erickson preached and presided . He served the bread to participants using wooden tongs , again for COVID safe reasons .
