ughts about the reunion

other churches in Canberra .
So when it was announced , a few months ago , that there would be a Service , inaugurating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity , with a Service commemorating the WCC Assembly , held in Canberra , just over 30 years ago , a degree of excitement and anticipation was felt among those who had taken part in the ’ 91 Assembly . We were thrilled to be singing the songs we learned back then , as we had sung them so many times and had come to love each one . Members of the original choir were encouraged to join again to recreate the musical component of the ’ 91 Assembly . Under the very skilled and dedicated leadership of Susan Reid , one of the organists at Holy Cross Anglican Church in Hackett , ACT , we assembled once again , weekly , to resurrect the music we had come to love those thirty years ago . This coming together of like-minded church members has consolidated a sense of ecumenical pride amongst those taking part .
We all hope we will have an opportunity to sing these songs again , perhaps not so long as another 30 years , but maybe sometime in the not so distant future , at an ecumenical event to be held here in the nation ’ s capital .
