Projection Problems

Various members of our worshipping congregation , both in the church and via Zoom , for some time have expressed difficulty in reading words projected on the screen . This is not an easy problem to resolve . However , your inputs about this are very welcome so that the team of projectionists who prepare the PowerPoints know what your particular issues might be .
The colours used are the main issue for some people , whilst font styles and sizes are issues for others . Red seems to be a particular problem for some . Others find yellow hard to read . One recent suggestion is that black text against a white background would be better than white text on a black background . If the tradition during responsive readings , prayers , etc , of showing the leaders ’ words in one colour and the congregations ’ words in another is to continue , which two colours would be best ? If the same colour has to be used , bolding some lines is not going to work if the text colour is either white or black .
An alternative might be to use different size fonts for the worship leader and congregation parts , or obviously different fonts for the two parts . One web search suggested the best fonts are the serif fonts - Garamond , Georgia , and Times New Roman . Another said white and black text is easiest to read and that 30pt font size is the minimum to use . Yet another said to use 24 pt size and stay away from

italics and scripts . But 24pt Arial is quite different from 24pt Times New Roman . What do you think ? Let any of the projectionists know so

that all views can be taken into consideration .
All readers are invited to contribute articles about things they have done - photographs taken , jokes heard or made up , poetry written , pictures of drawings or paintings done , prayers written , art or craft made , exciting and positive news received , and whatever else might be appropriate .
Likewise , we would love to have material to put on the St Margaret ’ s Website ( or its YouTube channel ). If you are clever enough to create and send sound recordings or videos of yourself playing an appropriate piece of music on an instrument , reciting a poem , singing a hymn or some other wonderful song , performing a favourite piece , or whatever , then that would be marvellous .
The deadline for material for the next issue is 9 April 2021 , with that issue being published on 16 April . Material should be provided to the editor Brian Rope or to Lynda at the church office .
Unless otherwise indicated , all photographs in this publication are by the editor , Brian Rope .
