Goodwin HC Resumed
Rev Chris Lockley normally conducts a simple, yet meaningful, service of Holy
Communion at Goodwin Ainslie each month. On 20 July, a “full house” of eight
people got together for this “in person” Holy Communion - the first time it had happened
since back in March (because of you know what).
Eight is the maximum permitted in the chapel under the 4 square meter rule limitations,
so we just scraped in. Two of the eight were first time attendees and we
were delighted to have Garth Mansfield and Moira Greene join us, and look forward
to their joining us regularly. We were missing two regulars - Judy Baker who
was unwell, and David Webster who, sadly, died on 6 July (see separate item at
page 10).
Special precautions were taken - plastic gloves worn to set out the elements
beforehand, separate shot glasses for each person’s wine, tongs used by Chris
Lockley to serve the bread, and passing the peace without physical contact.
After sharing in Communion, we adjourned to the adjacent room for conversation
around a large table whilst enjoying pre-ordered coffees and toasties thanks to
Pauline Everson.
Contributions Wanted: All readers are invited to contribute articles
about things done during these strange times - photographs taken,
jokes heard or made up, poetry written, pictures of drawings or
paintings done, prayers written, art or craft made, exciting and positive
news received, and whatever else might be appropriate.
Likewise, we would love to have material to put on the St Margaret’s
Website (or our YouTube channel). If you are both talented
and clever enough to create and send sound recordings or videos of
yourself playing an appropriate piece of music on an instrument,
reciting a poem, singing a hymn or some other wonderful song,
performing a favourite piece, or whatever, then that would be
marvellous.
The deadline for material for the next issue is 14 August 2020, with
that issue being published on 21 August. Material should be provided
to the editor Brian Rope or to Lynda at the church office.
