St James Conclu
Some St Margaret ’ s members were pleased to attend the concluding service at St James on 7 February - Simon Clarke ( who preached at it ), Margaret & Don Erickson ( who was the first Minister there ), Julie Pettit , Pam and John Kelly , Robyn Swadling and Brian Rope .

Various members of St James presented symbols of the life of the church . Two others , John Campbell ( picture above right ) and Matthew Jackson offered reflections from their time at St James .
South Woden ( with whom St James has now combined as the new Woden valley Uniting Church ) sent a message :
“ The congregation of South Woden Uniting Church extend our friendship and acknowledgment for your service and faith as you conduct your final Worship service . This will be a time to look back with justifiable pride on your remarkable achievements , yet experiencing understandably mixed emotions including doubt , joy , sadness , satisfaction and some grief , all tempered by excitement at the challenges and promise of our new venture . We are looking forward to our new church together being a welcoming , inclusive , progressive and outward-looking Christian community that nurtures spirituality and faith , and encourages service .”
It was indeed a time of mixed emotions , but a joyous occasion .
