A tradition of art and connection
Who are you calling old?
Wait, I’ m not old.
See this is the tricky part, in my mind anyway, when you want to gear something specifically toward retired folk or senior folk or aging folk – it can be hard to even put into words.
And, it’ s not even out of an unwillingness to offend or being scared of saying the wrong thing. The difficult part is in how people self identify, and would then possibly alienate themselves from something that could actually be helpful or fun if they gave it a chance.
There are many things that are probably more appealing to older adults, and we know there are many products and services specially catering to older adults, but there are also a lot of people who are as young as they feel. They might pick up a magazine like this, and say,“ Not for me, I’ m not old yet.”
Here’ s the other thing, though. Why it makes sense. People like things that cater to them. And, we all have grown accustomed to certain conveniences. The modern American puts a premium on convenience and speed. We don’ t mind being a little spoiled. So, with that out of the way, here’ s a guide to much of what older / aging / retired / senior folks can get into around here.
Notice, I never used the word“ elderly.” I wouldn’ t dare. That’ s for old folks.
