CIVIC GROUPS AND CLUBS
Many seniors have told the News Press they find purpose and passion in joining a local civic group. Those in Stillwater include Stillwater Noon Lions Club, Stillwater Area Kiwanis Club, Stillwater Frontier Rotary Club and more. Other groups include the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution or the National Society Daughters of the Union. You can also find ways to support service members through the American Legion Hanner-Sharp Post 129, American Legion Women’ s Auxiliary or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY’ S MCKNIGHT CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Enjoy award-winning musicians and bands performing concerts in a variety of genres, including classical, rock, funk, soul, jazz and bluegrass. The Center also includes Broadway musicals and classic movies in its season packages. Season ticket packages go on sale July 20 and single tickets go on sale Aug. 10. THE BOTANIC GARDEN AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY
Needing some fresh air and sunshine? Check out the 100-acre plot with curated walking trails and native plants, where you’ ll find a space to discover nature and inspire new ideas. Several divisions within the Oklahoma State’ s Division of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources use the Garden as a“ living, multidisciplinary laboratory,” according to the website, and classes are offered throughout the year in the Horticulture Education Center located at the front of the property.
You can even join the Botanic Garden Ambassadors, who help facilitate programs at The Botanic Garden. With just a few classes, you can expand your horticulture knowledge and share that with others – all while making friends and supporting a valuable community resource.
