Why ’ s it spooky ?:
One of the great “ history ” towns in the state , Medicine Park and the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge have plenty of ghost stories .
While running the Comanche County Chronicle , I followed a different paranormal investigation team ’ s trip to this historic southwestern Oklahoma building on Halloween night , 2015 .
Holding my recorder and pointing directly into a small , closed-off , closet-sized room , I heard the voice of a child saying - very clearly - “ Hello ,” from just in front of the microphone , a voice four investigators also heard .
Seconds later , while trying to quickly review my recording , we heard a gruff , adult male voice come from 20 feet away , from behind the other investigators , in what sounded like an attempt to “ shush ” the child .
We compared recordings , and the voices appeared on two others , besides my own . The kicker was that the recorder closest to the male voice picked it up loudly , as if it were right behind the investigator , while the child ’ s voice was further away , near the sounds of my movements .

The Old Plantation Restaurant in Medicine Park is renowned locally as a haunted destination . It has a long history of housing visiting outlaws , running bootleg liquor and hosting a floor dedicated to “ pretty girls .”
