Henry Ramsay ’ s dorm room in Bennett Hall would not feel like home without a portion of his large vinyl record collection . When he was younger he covered his bedroom walls with record covers . Initially he choose them based on their artwork . As he got older he began to appreciate the music pressed onto the vinyl record . Overtime he built up a collection of hundreds . The walls in his old room are now bare to better preserve their condition even though his dad misses seeing them as he walks by . of experience going in there ( North Dining ) and he just has crushed it ,” Sarah said . “ He had to train somebody his second or third day , and he got compliments from the higher up people .”
Henry hopes to combine his experience in hospitality with a degree to follow in his mother ’ s footsteps and open his own business .
“ She made her own business . Like she started it from our garage . She ’ s just such a role model for me , and I really love her for that ,” Henry said . “ It would be cool to have like a coffee shop during the day and then a bar at night , but I ’ m also not the biggest fan of alcohol . I ’ d love to have a bakery .”
Raised in Ann Arbor , Michigan home to the University of Michigan , Anna and Henry ’ s father , Chris Ramsay , was very familiar with what it ’ s like to grow up in a college town .
“ There have been a few times in my life which had been challenging . One was knowing what to do after high school , knowing what to do after undergraduate school , knowing what to do after graduate school and then what to do when you have twins . Those are the four times in my life that I ’ ve just been like , ‘ oh my God , what do you do ?’” Chris said . “ I think about my kids heading to OSU and after graduating from high school in this kind of transition , really helps not just me , but them , to have that kind of soft landing that they need .”
Attending OSU after growing up in Stillwater seemed like a rite of passage for Henry .
“ I was gonna be really disappointed if I didn ’ t ( get in ) just because I ’ ve lived here all my life ,” Henry said .
Chris remembers Henry being ecstatic when he got the acceptance letter with the musical card that played the alma mater when it opened .
“ I could see relief come over him . I think that that ’ s the kind of sensation I had when I think back to high school and realized , oh yeah , I am gonna go on to the University of Michigan ,” Chris said .
The twins ’ high school years were challenging with the COVID-19 pandemic . The unpredictability was hard for students like Anna and Henry , who opted for in-person classes rather than 100 % online school .
Stillwater Public Schools attempted a hybrid strategy to allow for social distancing in the classrooms where half of the high school students attended in-person classes every other week .
“ I think I was so worried about what the next status update about COVID was gonna be that I was , like , not doing amazing on my schoolwork and stuff . It was not a good time at all ,” Anna said . “ Even going in hybrid ( in-person ) was like so depressing .” What ’ s normally 30
