The Spirit
We don ’ t always plan themes , but it can work out that way .
This is of course a holiday edition , and many of our stories reflect that in ways that take on a bit deeper meaning . The spirit of giving is the spirit of the holidays . We see a lot of generosity in Stillwater that embodies that spirit .
A lot of times people saw a wrong that needed righted . Not content to wait for something to get done , they take it upon themselves . There ’ s no better example than Stillwater ’ s Companion Animal Assistance Program , which makes sure cats and dogs are spayed and neutered . Congratulations on 20 years , CAAP .
We also point out , that often the greatest gift that can be given is someone ’ s time . Payne County is full of volunteers doing work for the less fortunate .
A nice , deep dive into Stillwater ’ s history with the Wreaths Across America program provides a fuller look at what ’ s become one of our area ’ s best traditions for honoring veterans .
Our cover features Cosmo Oldenburg , who founded and has kept a toy drive going for 13 years . The motorcycle part of the toy drive is over , but you can still help by helping the Lions Meadows of Hope foster care , the beneficiary of the toy drive , by visiting lionsmoh . org where you can set up ways to donate , foster or volunteer .
