So , if we ' re dedicating a magazine to Stillwater restaurants , we must include Sonic Drive-In , where the very first Sonic opened in 1959 . There ' s another town that would love to claim it , but ours has the golden statue of the owner / general manager Gene Longworth , so there ! I ' ve compiled a list of some local favorites ...
5 ) Sonic Ice - That ' s right folks , people are so obsessed with their ice that they started bagging and selling it ! It ' s tiny like pea-sized hail , but somehow it lasts for hours .
4 ) 50 Cent Corn Dog Day - I ' m not a fan of corn dogs , but holy crap the masses come out for 50-cent corn dogs ! They have this magical day twice a year and they start advertising days in advance . It ' s so popular that Sonic puts a limit on the number you can order .
- The Route 44 - which is 44 oz of Pink Lady for less than $ 2 !! I ' ve never understood why happy hour is always more than one hour , but this one is by far the best ! Apparently if you order on their app you can get half-priced drinks all day long , but it ' s way more fun to try to beat the clock ( and the traffic )!
Sonic is also one of the few places left that actually have carhops . Ours even has one who ' s on roller skates ! SwOk

3 ) Pretzel Twists and Mozzsrella Sticks - These two snack options are by far my favorite on any given day . The pretzels come out scorching hot with coarse salt sprinkled on top of this delightfully doughy grease stick , and will most certainly burn your mouth with every bite ! The mozzarella sticks are equally delicious ( and hot ) and come in three sizes . Even though they probably come off a truck frozen solid , these are hands-down the best mozzarella sticks in town !
2 ) Off Menu Drinks - Move over Starbucks , Sonic has their own offmenu items and they are the Pink Lady and the Blue Gentlemen ! These are two drinks that I just discovered this year and are now my favorites . I ' ve probably consumed way too many Pink Ladies this summer , but I can ' t help it . The Pink Lady consists of cherry Sprite , vanilla syrup , and sweet cream . The Blue Gentlemen is Sonic ' s classic Ocean Water ( coconut flavored ) with vanilla syrup and sweet cream . I got an insider tip that the sweet cream is actually their melted ice cream that they pour over the top of the drink . Yum !
1 ) Happy Hour - I think we can all agree that the best deal in town is Sonic ' s Happy Hour . From 2-4 every day , including weekends , all Sonic drinks are half-price . This means you can get their largest drink
