dor . Club members and OSU together purchased 20 books so more people could join . But attendance reached 25 with professors , students and others joining the meeting .
The Cookbook Club is all about people who love food and talking about cookbooks , recipes and cooking , States said . But it ’ s also about having a social outlet .
Club member Carol Anderson moved from California six years ago to be near her sister , Louise Field , who has been a member of the club from its inception .
“ She was the one who told me about it ,” Anderson said . “ Everyone tries to find a good recipe and to make it to the best of their ability , and so … I say , it ’ s like having a gourmet potluck and we just get to enjoy it .”
Anderson said one of her favorite meals was the Korean meal , which included Bulgogi ( barbecued beef ) and rice dishes .
Nancy Murray , another member , moved to Stillwater to be near her daughter , Elizabeth . She ’ s been a member of the club for only four months . Her favorite part of being in the club is trying out new recipes and sharing what people brought .
This Tuesday , she brought chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles .
“ Everybody ’ s so welcoming – and really , that ’ s the whole town ,” Murray said . “ It ’ s the best eating in town on a Tuesday night .”
