HERE ’ S TO

Progress !

An annual progress edition is about just that – progress .

And , as many who have spent any amount of time out and about in Stillwater , know we have plenty of that going on . It ’ s impossible to distill it all into one magazine , so you have to have an angle .
In this case , maybe we worked a bit backward . We started with a great story , the restoration of Washington school , and built from there . What we got is a sense of how Stillwater ’ s past is impacting Stillwater ’ s future .
It led us to Murphy ’ s Department Store . A department store , brick and mortar , which also has incorporated new selling and purchasing techniques to stay ahead of the times .
We profile the Houcks , an everything agency that has stood the test of time , constantly reacting to its customers ’ needs .
Stillwater Medical is also approaching its growth based on patient needs , the latest being a new NICU center , that will allow families to stay closer to home with their newborns .
It was also interesting to look at things from the City of Stillwater and Stillwater Chamber of Commerce points of view and how they approach recruiting and helping develop new business .
And , we took a look at a few new businesses like Territory Distilling and Persimmon Hill Bakery . It ’ s really just kind of wonderful to see people pouring their heart into things they ’ re passions about .
It ’ s also nice to see organizations and projects dedicated to helping developing those businesses like the way FAPC guides food entrepreneurs , or how the Krazy Daze event boosts local merchants .
It ’ s obvious that people care , and that care has us making progress . SwOk
