ment and said the homeschool band offers more flexibility than when he was in public school as far as what instrument he could play.
On the other hand, students in the homeschool band don’ t get to practice together every day like students in public school, so there’ s a trade-off. Kenna said it’ s up to the parents to encourage their homeschoolers to practice daily, as the group only has six class rehearsals for one concert.

“ It requires a lot of discipline and self-motivation and responsibility on their part to want to do good,” she said.“ We’ re constantly talking about,‘ You never know who’ s listening, so you always want to do your best.’ … Excellence is a habit and not an act.”
