microphone’ s channel had been accidentally left open and was blocking my channel. Still, I felt pretty confident leaving the stage after my four scenes – whipping off the lapel mic to pass it on to the next actor.
By the time public performances came that Friday and Saturday, we all felt prepared and ready to perform for guests.
“ As a director, I think the( best) part for me is when all of a sudden, it just clicks,” Director Crystal Stephens told me.“ But then doing it as a church for the community, obviously that goes deeper because we’ re getting to give this classic Christmas story,( while) sharing( God with) our community through it. I don’ t think it gets much better than that.”
After the last performance, I scrubbed and scrubbed at the sparkly makeup on my face. Weeks later, I’ d still be finding those little sparkles stubbornly clinging here and there, but the memories would never fade of those nights performing with church members.

Cold-hearted, tight-fisted Ebenezer Scrooge doesn’ t believe in being cheerful or in celebrating Christmas. For him, it’ s just another day to spend making money, not making merry. But just like in Charles Dickens’ novella, three spirits come to remind, encourage and challenge Scrooge to open his heart to all that God has done for him, even though he doesn’ t see it.
