The Hoffman family’ s pecan legacy

On a quiet Saturday morning in March, the smell of roasting pecans filled the air in the store of the Hoffman Pecan Farm on the east side of Stillwater.

ichard“ Dick” Hoffman and his grandson, Shane, sat in armchairs, chatting as they waited for their Dr. Pepper pecans to finish roasting. Yes, you read that right. Dr. Pepper pecans are among the many unique, specialty nut products Dick Hoffman and his family sell at their shop.
Who knew a hobby started more than 50 years ago would turn into a long-time family and pecan industry legacy? Dick Hoffman sure didn’ t.
“ It’ s just kind of exploded in the last 15 years. Two of my sons are retired, and they spend a lot of time here throughout the season,” he said.
Hoffman now owns 200 acres and has turned it into a fully-fledged family-owned company, with every member of the family playing a part.
