The couple’ s goal is to always make their food affordable.
“ Anytime you go out somewhere else, they will overcharge you because they can. We want to make sure that our food is delicious and( yet) affordable for everybody to eat,” Ava said.
Those prices fluctuate with the price of meat, but they try to keep price changes within a dollar or two. For now, they purchase their meat from a producer in Cleveland, Oklahoma, as well as the Noble County Meats Butcher Shop in Perry. But they’ re beginning to raise their own registered Longhorn cattle. The meat is less greasy and more tender, Jordon said. They’ re also raising their own swine for their pulled pork options.
This July, they will celebrate two years of serving customers from the bus windows.“ We’ ve been almost everywhere,” Ava said. That includes Stillwater, Enid, Cushing, Perry, Yale, Morrison, Glencoe, Pawnee, Guthrie, Helena, Jet and Seminole. They serve food at events such as auctions, livestock shows, Fourth of July events, train shows, rodeos and any outdoor events or festivals – including church festivals.“ We go wherever we’ re invited,” Jordon. They don’ t have to hook up the bus to another vehicle, like a trailer, which makes commuting much easier. It also makes it easier to pile in with their two little daughters, Montana and Myra, and head out. The two have enjoyed the time together as a family as they’ ve traveled around.
“ And then, we don’ t have to run it every day,” Jordon said.“ If we just want to sit at home or go out somewhere on the weekend, we can. It’ s not a 9 to 5.”
“ I really enjoy going to events you never thought you’ d go to,” Ava said. Last year, they set up at a rock band concert in Stillwater.“ We would have never gone to that( before), but we had a great time.
“ I like all the events and all the people we meet. I love every customer. We’ ve never had a bad customer so far. Everyone’ s nice, everyone loves our food. We’ ve only heard good things about it.”
