Symptoms : 1 . Person is unconscious or semiconscious and cannot be awakened . 2 . Cold , clammy , pale or blueish skin . 3 . Check to see if breathing slow ( less than eight times per minute ) or irregular ( ten seconds or more between breaths ).
4 . Vomiting while “ sleeping ” or passed out .
We ’ d like to tell you about a deadly tradition happening on campuses today that must be stopped - turning 21 and drinking 21 shots . While this certainly will get a person drunk , it also puts their life seriously at risk . Drinking 21 shots will raise a person ’ s alcohol level to . 4 , the level which a person stops breathing . So the next time someone suggests celebrating 21 years with 21 shots , tell them there are better ways of avoiding a hangover than killing themselves .

What to do :
1 . Get help right away . Contact a staff member , an ambulance , 911 , a public safety officer , anyone who can help . 2 . Do not leave the person alone . 3 . Turn the victim on his / her side to prevent choking in case of vomiting .
4 . Always be “ better safe than sorry ” if you are not sure what to do . A true friend will never fault you for caring too much .
