Oklahoma State University students were selected for the Doel Reed Center summer academic program in Taos , New Mexico . The Doel Reed Center includes a small campus in Taos , former home of artist , Doel Reed and daughter , fashion designer Martha Reed . The center provides scholarships to students supporting their travel and tuition costs . These fashion pictorials were selected from the students ’ trip in May .
Fashion Merchandising Professor Cosette Joyner Martinez developed an experience to expose students to the culture and landscape of New Mexico , while providing a workshop series about editorial styling . Students were tasked to create a merchandising design for a rock ‘ n ’ roll album . During the twoweek course in Taos , students learned how to develop a styling concept , apply basic photography principles , understand rock music from historical and cultural perspectives , and edit and retouch fashion images professionally . Students collaborated with Kelly Kerr , multimedia producer for the College of Education and Human Sciences Marketing and Communications office at OSU . Kerr conducted on-location photo shoots at various locations in the
Taos area , including the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge , The Slide Trail and Arroyo Hondo . Students had the opportunity to play the roles of stylist , styling assistant , and model during five photo shoots . After returning home , students used the images to create a packaging design for the album . The Doel Reed Center will sponsor a student exhibition of their work on campus October 18-28 in the Gaylord Gallery of the Nancy Randolph Davis building .
Students in the course are also members of modmuze magazine , the fashion and lifestyle magazine and blog at OSU . Modmuze members frequently develop editorial concepts for photo shoots and create fashion pictorials for the magazine . The team is made up of students from many different majors , led by editor-in-chief Faith Bollom and advised by Dr . Joyner Martinez . The Doel Reed Center was an excellent complement to the real-world experience students gain by working for modmuze throughout the year . This year , the students will create and produce fashion and lifestyle content for “ Stillwater Oklahoma ” magazine in a new partnership . by Faith Bollom , modmuze Editor-in-Chief Production by Hadley Waldren , modmuze Production Director Photography by Kelly Kerr , Cinematographer and OSU Multimedia Producer Image left : Styling by Sebastian Arias ; model : Victoria Chavez
