As soon as it gets hot outside, I
start to panic just a little. I’m great
at dressing in the winter--give me
some skinny jeans, boots and a few
layers, and I’m good to go. But once
the hot weather hits, I scramble to
find clothes that are not only cute,
but ones that will also keep me cool
and comfortable in 100 degrees
under the Oklahoma sun. I’ve been
on a major mission this Spring to
prepare for the upcoming summer
and make sure my closet is full of
the perfect pieces to wear. Here are
the popular summer trends that I
think everyone should incorporate
into their wardrobe.
1. Scallops | So ladylike and
feminine--I love scallops! They
were first on my radar with last
summer’s J.Crew shift dress that
was made popular by nearly every
single blogger on the Internet. It’s
an easy way to add a detail to make
you go from boring and basic to
pulled together and perfect.
3. Neon | Neon is on my list
for everything. It never really goes
out of style, you’ve just got to know
how and when to wear it. To avoid
looking like a teenager from the
90s, look for structured and sophisticated pieces. Limit your neon
to one item in your ensemble and
always pair with neutrals like navy,
tan or white. And always, always
remember to keep it simple!
2. Mesh | I think of mesh as
lace’s edgy older sister. Little peeks
of your tanned skin through the
material is a great look for summer.
But to make sure you still look
classy, try to stay away from pieces
of clothing made entirely from the
see-through material and instead
opt for small doses and accents.
