The Velma-Alma High School Cheer squad looks to improve their technique and cheer their teams to victory as they enter the fall semester .
With 11 new members , the team is mostly brand new , with the exception of one returning cheerleader . The team ’ s coach , Rebekah Herring , is also new to the high school cheer scene .
The team accelerated at Universal Cheer Association camp this summer , with members Caymen Bucceri , Mallory Foster Anderson and Jadyn Lowry each earning All American honors . The
team also received a Technical Excellence Award in Crowd leading , one superior ribbon , two excellent ribbons and multiple spirit sticks during their time at cheer camp .
Herring said the new team looks forward to showing off their recently acquired skills .
“ These ladies have worked all summer to learn over 65 cheers , chants and sideline dances ,” Herring said . “ They are a new team who have already made lots of progress .”
According to Herring , the squad can not wait to kick off the season .
