EHS BAND DEVELOPS LIFELONG EXPERTISE WITH MUSIC

Meeting last year ’ s accomplishments and surpassing them – that ’ s the goal for this year ’ s Empire Bulldog Band .
This year , 41 students make up the Empire School Band , under the lead of Kim Butler , director , who began practices on Aug . 11 for the group of seventh to 12th graders .
Butler said last year , the student musicians took first at the State Fair for drumline , and they ’ re looking for a repeat when they at the Oklahoma State Fair Band Day Parade . They ’ ll also hit numerous contests

this school year , including the SWOBDA All- Region Honor band , SCOBDA Honor Band , OkMEA All-State Honor Band , SWOSU All Senior Honor Band , District Solo and |

Ensemble Contest , and State Solo and Ensemble Contest .
This year ’ s drum majors include Brianna Kenny , Rionna Allen and Dawson Gibbons . Butler said these and

other students will “ graduate with more skills to help them in their adult life ” through studying music and participating in Band . The group will host the Glow Show also . |
EMPIRE CHEER ANTICIPATES EXCITING YEAR

With football season full speed ahead , Empire Cheer is ready encourage the student body and chant their teams to victory .
Coach Lisa Hill looks forward to seeing how the Empire Cheer team performs this year .
“ I am very excited about this coming year ,” Hill said . “ We learned several new routines at camp that we will be using
during pep rallies and at halftime of our games .”
Hill said there are six returning members of the cheer squad , as well as three new members .
“ Two of the new girls were on the middle school team , and have now moved up to the high school team ,” Hill said . “ I have one other girl that is a senior , and this is her first year on the team . I am excited to have her , and she is already showing promise .”
