THE PRIDE OF COMANCHE BAND LEADING THE TRIBE AND THE BATTLE CRY

The Pride of Comanche Band will bring the noise this year as nearly 40 high school musicians take on the task to motivate their athletes . Director Derek Milburn began practices Aug . 8 for the group that will experience numerous opportunities throughout the 2022-2023 school year . Now led by drum major Makayla Vanston , Milburn said this year ’ s goals will continue to build upon the foundation left from last year ’ s campaign .
“ The Pride of Comanche had a great year last year ,” Milburn said . “ We won our first OSSAA Sweepstakes in several years . We want to continue on with that success through this year .
“ We are also fundraising for a trip to the Reliaquest Bowl ( formerly the Outback Bowl ) in Tampa , Florida ,” he said . “ The students will compete in a parade and field competition with bands from around the country . The students will also get to attend the game and perform at halftime of the Reliaquest Bowl .”

Milburn said this was possible because of the students dedication .
“ We would like everyone in the community and surrounding areas that we appreciate their support of our trip to Tampa in December ,” Milburn said . “ We hope that we can go and represent Oklahoma , and this part of the state
